How NBC Brought Live Musicals Back to Television
In 2011, NBC faced significant struggles under late General Electric ownership until Comcast acquired majority shares. This brought a new leadership team led by Bob Greenblatt, who sought to revitalize the network's schedule. Drawing on his background as a Broadway producer, Greenblatt collaborated with producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to revive live theatrical television. Their bold gamble culminated in the blockbuster broadcast of The Sound of Music Live in December 2013.
