Helix Carbon Upcycles Blast Furnace Pollution to Make Cheaper Iron

The iron and steel sectors are among the world's largest industrial polluters, largely due to traditional blast furnaces. Startup Helix Carbon is introducing a novel technology that captures and recycles carbon dioxide emissions directly from these furnaces. By converting waste gases into carbon monoxide using a durable electrolyzer, the system reduces the need for expensive coke. This approach not only slashes greenhouse gas emissions but also improves notoriously thin profit margins for iron producers.
