Seafloor sediments reveal East Antarctic ice sheet advance
Researchers from Kiel University and the Alfred Wegener Institute have investigated a massive sedimentary body off the coast of East Antarctica. Located in Vincennes Bay, this structure provides crucial insights into past glacial behavior. The feature, known as a grounding-zone wedge, is approximately 260 meters high and stretches 65 kilometers long. It stands as the largest known isolated wedge of its kind on a glaciated continental shelf.
