A live broadcast from the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva in Jerusalem marks the 19th anniversary of the passing of Rabbi Avraham Elkana Shapira. Rabbi Shapira served as the head of the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva for decades following the death of Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook, and was the Chief Rabbi of Israel from 1983 to 1993.
Marking 19 years since the passing of Rabbi Avraham Shapira (Rav Avrum), the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva podcast released its third episode focusing on Yom Kippur prayers in his presence. Rabbi Yehoshua Magנס and Rabbi Shmuel Shapira discuss his unique prayer service during the High Holy Days, exploring his legacy of teaching generations how to stand in prayer before God. The episode highlights traditions passed down from Volozhin, the inspiring prayers of his mother, and his passionate priestly blessing. Listeners are taken through emotional descriptions of 'Unetanef Tokef' and his profound awe of divine judgment, balanced by the joy following the shofar blasts, the Avodah service, and his deep connection with the yeshiva students.
