Violent Riots and Looting Erupt in Frankfurt Following Protests
A massive protest movement led by the 'GenZ regelt' collective, which drew 120,000 participants across Germany, devolved into violent riots in Frankfurt and other major cities. Demonstrators were initially protesting the cost of living, school funding, and potential military conscription. However, the night saw approximately 1,500 individuals engage in looting, property destruction, and direct attacks on law enforcement. Over 100 police officers were injured, with one in serious condition, leading government officials to condemn the violence and highlight the involvement of immigrant backgrounds among the rioters.
