Film Composers Defend Human Artistry Against Generative AI at Ghent
Prominent film composers gathered at the World Soundtrack Awards in Belgium to voice serious concerns regarding the rapid rise of generative artificial intelligence in the music industry. Artists behind major cinematic scores emphasized that machine-generated tracks lack genuine emotional depth and threaten the future livelihood of emerging talent. Industry leaders also addressed significant hurdles surrounding collective bargaining and copyright protection. They urged creators to carefully review platform terms of service and advocated for strict regulatory safeguards to ensure human artistry remains valued and legally protected.
