New Images of Unique Supernova Remnant Reveal Pearl-like Chains

Astronomers have captured unprecedented images of Pa 30, a rare supernova remnant in the Milky Way. The structure features intricate gas knots arranged like pearls on a string, each spanning vast distances. Led by Ilaria Caiazzo of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, the team used the Gemini North telescope to study this 850-year-old cosmic event. The findings provide new insights into the nature of this unique stellar explosion.
