New alloy design strategy combines strength and ductility
Structural metals used in engineering projects are expected to have both high strength and high ductility. Achieving both of these properties at the same time, however, is challenging. A new alloy design strategy aims to overcome this limitation by carefully timing hardening mechanisms during deformation. This approach could lead to significantly more durable engineering materials.
