New solar model maps sun more accurately with far-side data
Researchers at the Southwest Research Institute have developed an advanced solar prediction model. By incorporating activity from the far side of the sun, the model significantly improves space weather forecasting accuracy. The team analyzed near-simultaneous maps of the entire solar surface spanning from 2010 to 2014. This approach combined traditional Earth-based observations with space-based data capturing the opposite hemisphere.
