Giant Tortoises Outnumber Humans in Seychelles
A recent comprehensive survey of the Aldabra Atoll has confirmed a massive population of giant tortoises. With nearly 183,000 individuals, these reptiles now significantly outnumber the human population of the Seychelles. This milestone marks a remarkable recovery for a species that was once on the brink of extinction. The stability of this population highlights the success of long-term conservation efforts in the region.
