'Add me on WhatsApp' scam calls to be investigated by UK watchdog
The UK's data protection watchdog, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), has launched an investigation into a significant surge in automated telephone complaints. Citizens across the country have reported receiving automated robo calls urging them to add an unknown number on WhatsApp. Preliminary insights suggest these deceptive phone calls are designed to lure unsuspecting targets into a fraudulent recruitment scheme. With complaints hitting a five-year high, authorities are ramping up efforts to trace the culprits and protect the public.
