Rare insect discovery reveals a new species from the dinosaur age
A team of researchers from the School of Zoology and The Steinhardt Museum of Natural History has identified a brand-new prehistoric insect species, named Cretodorus noonoo or "Noo-Noo". The tiny creature was trapped in tree resin approximately 99 million years ago during the age of the dinosaurs, eventually becoming preserved in amber. This remarkable fossil discovery provides scientists with fresh insights into ancient ecosystems and prehistoric biodiversity. By analyzing the remarkably preserved physical features of the specimen, researchers can better understand how these ancient organisms lived and adapted to their environments.
