Ultraviolet laser pulses engineer diamond defects selectively
Researchers are exploring the atomic-scale imperfections inside diamonds, which can grant the material new optical and electronic properties. Some of these tiny defects can even serve as functional quantum systems for future technologies. The primary challenge in this field has been learning how to precisely control and manipulate these specific defects without disturbing surrounding quantum qubits. A recent study highlights the use of specialized ultraviolet laser pulses to achieve this selective engineering.
