New Crocodile Species Discovered in Great Sphinx Building Stones
Paleontologists have identified a new extinct crocodile species, Herugavialis cairensis, discovered within the limestone blocks used to construct the Great Sphinx of Giza. This unique find highlights the geological history embedded in Egypt's most famous monument. Interestingly, the fossilized remains share a peculiar trait with the Sphinx itself: both are missing the tip of their snout. This discovery provides new insights into the prehistoric biodiversity of the region.
