Polar oceans store carbon—but policy is not yet ready to count it
Polar oceans play a critical role in absorbing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while supporting unique marine biodiversity. Despite their environmental importance, current scientific methods and global policy frameworks are not yet fully equipped to measure and account for this natural carbon storage.
