Russian strikes and approaching winter force Kyiv residents to flee
A renewed and intense campaign of Russian missile and drone strikes targeting energy infrastructure has left residents in Kyiv facing a daunting winter. With attacks now reaching the center of the capital, some families are packing their bags to seek safety and warmth abroad. While last winter brought sub-zero temperatures and severe power outages, the escalation in late August and September has accelerated decisions to leave. Parents are increasingly unwilling to subject young children to the twin threats of biting cold and constant bombardment.
