Quantum sensor could measure how Earth drags spacetime
Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity describes gravity as the bending of spacetime and predicts that rotating massive bodies drag the surrounding spacetime along with them. This subtle phenomenon, known as frame-dragging, has been notoriously difficult to measure precisely from the surface of our planet. Recent advancements in quantum sensing technology may finally provide the extreme precision needed to detect and measure this cosmic effect directly. Researchers are looking at sophisticated quantum devices to observe minute gravitational anomalies associated with the Earth's rotation.
