Zimbabwean author denies using AI to write award-winning story
Simbarashe Kundizeza, winner of the prestigious Caine Prize for African Writing, has strongly denied allegations that his winning short story, 'The Blue Fighter,' was generated using artificial intelligence. The controversy erupted after a US magazine article cited AI-detection software claiming the work was entirely machine-made. The Caine Prize leadership expressed shock and disappointment that the magazine published the claims before a thorough investigation could take place, defending the integrity of the winner and criticizing the premature accusations.
