Why Zimbabwe tycoon 'Sir Wicknell' was loved and hated in Africa
Wicknell Chivayo, a prominent and controversial Zimbabwean tycoon known as 'Sir Wicknell', recently died in a helicopter crash alongside his wife Lucy Muteke. He was famous for his extravagant lifestyle, flaunting luxury cars and large sums of cash on social media while operating in a country where nearly half the population lives in poverty. While admirers praised his philanthropy and generosity, critics questioned the sources of his wealth and his ties to the ruling Zanu-PF party, leaving a deeply divided legacy.
