Sigil Wen Launches Underdog: A Private, On-Device AI Assistant
Thiel Fellow Sigil Wen has launched Underdog, an invite-only AI assistant designed to run entirely on-device. By utilizing a custom inference engine called Husky, the tool ensures user data never leaves their local hardware, prioritizing privacy over cloud-based processing. Unlike competitors that rely on data-heavy server models, Underdog uses a 27-billion parameter model. The project aims to provide high-level assistance for daily tasks without the need for subscriptions or data-mining, instead monetizing through transaction fees.
