Matchbox: The Movie Review: John Cena Can't Save Toy Adaptation
Variety has published a review of 'Matchbox: The Movie', directed by Sam Hargrave and starring John Cena and Jessica Biel. The film adapts Mattel's 73-year-old toy car brand into an action-heavy blockbuster. Despite boasting some solid action set pieces, the review argues that the film lacks the intellectual depth and satirical bite of successful toy adaptations like 'Barbie', instead feeling like a generic action stopgap.
