Ipswich Fan Feared for Life After Rival Supporter Falls from Stand
A trial at Ipswich Crown Court is underway regarding an incident where a Maidstone United fan fell from the upper tier onto home supporters during an FA Cup match in January 2024. The victim, Joanne Peters, testified that she feared for her life and thought she could have broken her neck when the defendant landed on her. The defendant, 62-year-old John Ryan, denies charges of assault by beating and actual bodily harm. As the jury deliberates, the court has examined witness testimonies and video footage of the fall, which occurred during a historic match for the non-league club.
