LibreOffice says 'no AI' is now a software feature
The Document Foundation has announced that LibreOffice will not include generative artificial intelligence in its default configuration for the foreseeable future. The organization emphasized privacy and data control as core reasons for avoiding cloud-based AI processing. By keeping the software entirely offline-capable, LibreOffice aims to protect confidential and legally privileged data from leaving user machines. Users who still want AI functionality can manually install extensions that connect to local models.
