‘Between Two Lovers’ Review: Nanako Hirose Examines a Throuple Drama
Director Nanako Hirose's sophomore feature, "Between Two Lovers," explores complex contemporary relationship dynamics within a modern Japanese setting. Starring Masami Nagasawa, the film tackles provocative themes including polyamorous arrangements and same-sex parenting. While the movie presents a compelling premise about a free-spirited children's author proposing a three-way relationship to her husband and secret girlfriend, critics note it sometimes holds back from fully exploring its most contentious elements.
