Former German spy chief arrested for espionage and treason
August Hanning, the former head of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND), has been arrested on serious charges. Authorities accuse him of espionage, treason, and leaking classified information to a foreign power. Hanning, who led the BND from 1998 to 2005, was taken into custody at his home. The Federal Prosecutor's Office is currently leading the investigation into these high-level security breaches.
