Homemade Garlic Bread
Warm, buttery, and loaded with fresh garlic and herbs, this classic homemade garlic bread is the ultimate crowd-pleasing side dish.
Ingredients
- •1 large loaf French baguette or Italian bread
- •1/2 cup unsalted butter (115g), softened at room temperature
- •4 cloves garlic, minced
- •2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- •1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- •1/4 teaspoon salt
- •1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- •1 pinch garlic powder
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- 2
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until smooth and thoroughly mixed.
- 3
Cut the French baguette in half lengthwise down the middle to create two long, even troughs.
- 4
Generously spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut surfaces of both bread halves, making sure to get it all the way to the edges.
- 5
Place the bread halves on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the butter is fully melted and bubbling.
- 6
Switch the oven to broil and broil the bread for 1 to 2 minutes, watching very closely, until the top is golden and slightly crisp.
- 7
Remove from the oven, let cool for a couple of minutes, then slice diagonally into individual portions and serve warm.
💡 Chef tips
- For extra gooey cheese pull, sprinkle a cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the garlic butter before baking.
- You can assemble the garlic bread ahead of time, wrap it tightly in foil, and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
- Leftover baked bread can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes to restore its crispiness.
✅ How it should turn out
The finished garlic bread should be irresistibly crispy on the edges, wonderfully soft and buttery in the center, and bursting with aromatic garlic and toasted cheese flavor.
