Middle East Oil Exports Exceed Pre-War Levels Despite Hormuz Threats

Middle Eastern oil exports have surpassed their pre-conflict volumes, climbing past 24 million barrels per day. This recovery has been achieved through protected tanker fleets under American escort and strategic pipelines bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. Despite ongoing Iranian attacks and disruptions, regional logistics have adapted to ensure market stability. However, elevated shipping and insurance costs continue to exert upward pressure on global energy prices.

Persian Gulf Oil Exports Rebound to Pre-War Levels

Despite ongoing conflicts and security challenges in the region, recent data reveals that Persian Gulf oil shipments have fully recovered to their pre-war volumes, and even exceeded them recently. According to analytics firm Kpler, alternative export routes and increased security measures have helped stabilize the supply. While traffic directly through the Strait of Hormuz remains somewhat subdued compared to historical figures, regional producers have successfully adapted by utilizing overland pipelines and conducting ship-to-ship transfers to keep global markets supplied.

Hormuz Ship Attacks Reach Record High as Oil Exports Slow

Attacks on commercial vessels around the Strait of Hormuz have reached unprecedented levels, according to an analysis of UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) data. Twelve ships were struck within a single week between October 5 and 11, marking the most intense period of maritime disruptions since regional conflict escalated. The surge in strikes by Iranian forces and armed drones has slowed the recent recovery in Middle East crude shipments. Daily transit volumes fell to roughly 12.6 million barrels on October 13, down from 15 million at the end of September and significantly below pre-war baseline levels.
