Injured Hyena Cubs Successfully Reintroduced to the Wild

Two striped hyena cubs, Gedam and Lula, were brought to a wildlife hospital in April 2025 after suffering leg injuries in the wild, including an amputation. Following an extensive 14-month rehabilitation and acclimation project at the Midabrium facility, carefully managed to prevent human habituation, the cubs were successfully released back into the southern open spaces. Wildlife experts utilized variable feeding schedules and remote camera monitoring to ensure the animals retained their natural wariness of humans. Building on this unprecedented success, caretakers are already rehabilitating two more injured young hyenas for future release.
