Investors Focus More on Business Type Than Founder Gender in Study
A new survey experiment conducted by researchers at the University of Portsmouth reveals that crowdfunding investors prioritize the nature of a business over the gender of its founders. Published in the British Journal of Management, the research challenges common assumptions about gender bias in early-stage investment decision-making. The findings suggest that while gender dynamics are often discussed in venture capital contexts, retail and crowdfunding investors primarily evaluate market potential and product offering. This shift indicates that commercial viability remains the principal driver of funding decisions in digital investment platforms.
