'Trust Me, I'm a Doctor' Review: Kal Penn Struggles in Biopic
Thane Economou’s film dramatizes the tumultuous experiences of Sandeep Kapoor, the physician who cared for Anna Nicole Smith during her final years. Kal Penn portrays the doctor caught in a tabloid media storm following Smith's tragic death from a prescription overdose. Despite ambitious intentions, the narrative struggles with a disjointed tone, uneven performances, and excessive runtime. While Penn delivers strong moments near the end, the biographical drama ultimately feels like an unnecessary sidebar to a well-trodden celebrity tragedy.
