Sonay Kartal reaches Wuhan Open semi-finals after stunning win
British tennis player Sonay Kartal has advanced to her first WTA 1000 semi-final at the Wuhan Open following a hard-fought victory over Ukraine's Elina Svitolina. Returning from a lengthy absence caused by a severe back injury, Kartal chose to challenge herself immediately against top-tier competitors rather than easing back through lower-tier events. Her bold strategy has yielded remarkable results in China, where she has already eliminated several notable opponents, including Jasmine Paolini and Belinda Bencic. Reflecting on her stellar run, Kartal described this period as the highlight of her athletic journey so far, marking her name in British tennis history.
