Why have hundreds of 'cockroach' protesters been detained in Delhi
Hundreds of demonstrators associated with the Gen-Z led Cockroach Janta Party were detained by police in Delhi ahead of a planned anti-government protest calling for electoral reforms. The movement emerged following controversial remarks made by India's Chief Justice in May, in which he compared certain unemployed youth to cockroaches, sparking widespread youth outrage. Authorities deployed tens of thousands of security personnel, barricaded roads, and denied official permission for the demonstration, though organizers insisted on pressing forward.
