Defense Minister Katz: IDF Will Not Handle West Bank Settler Youth
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has declared that the military will no longer engage in civilian enforcement within the West Bank. Following recent incidents of violence and international pressure, the responsibility for managing and investigating lawlessness among settler youth will be fully transferred to the police. Despite shifting the enforcement burden, Katz maintains his opposition to utilizing administrative detention orders against settlers. Instead, the government plans to allocate additional resources to law enforcement agencies while the military focuses strictly on border defense and counter-terrorism.
