Malavida Acquires Wang Chao’s ‘A Woman’ and Plans 2027 Retrospective
French film distributor Malavida has secured the rights to Wang Chao’s 2022 drama 'A Woman,' marking its long-awaited introduction to French audiences. The company intends to pair this release with a comprehensive retrospective of the Chinese filmmaker’s career scheduled for the spring of 2027. Beyond the Wang Chao acquisition, Malavida is expanding its catalog with several classic film restorations and re-releases. This includes works by Dino Risi, a restored version of '1984' supervised by Roger Deakins, and a new project featuring Philippe Katerine, all timed to coincide with the distributor's 20th anniversary celebrations.
