Christy Carlson Romano Claims Half Shia LaBeouf Salary on Even Stevens
Former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano has opened up about a significant pay gap during her time on the hit series 'Even Stevens.' Despite sharing co-lead status and identical screen time with co-star Shia LaBeouf, Romano revealed that she earned only half of his episodic salary. She uncovered historical documentation, including a letter written by her mother to their agent in 2000, which pleaded for parity to help support their financially struggling family. In her new memoir, Romano reflects on the complex realities of growing up in the entertainment industry as a primary household provider. While emphasizing that her former castmate deserved his earnings, she underscores the systemic financial disparities often faced by young female performers and the bittersweet nature of advocating for oneself at a tender age.
