Supporters of jailed ex-PM Imran Khan begin march in Pakistan
Thousands of supporters of Pakistan's former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, have launched a protest march from the country's north-west. The demonstrators are demanding the release of the 74-year-old leader, who has been imprisoned since 2023 on various corruption charges, which he maintains are politically motivated. The march follows a breakdown in negotiations between the government and Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Tensions remain high as authorities have blocked key routes to Islamabad, and concerns regarding Khan's deteriorating health and lack of medical access continue to fuel the protests.
