Toy Story 5 Co-Director Kenna Harris on Her Journey and Reshaping the Sequel
Kenna Harris transitioned from a devoted fan sketching childhood characters to co-directing Pixar's upcoming fifth installment of the beloved franchise. Working alongside veteran filmmaker Andrew Stanton, Harris embraced major creative risks, including putting Jessie at the very center of the narrative. The production faced a critical turning point when early acts failed to resonate with audiences, prompting an intense two-week pause to overhaul the story's emotional core. By shifting the focus toward genuine human connection and shared loneliness rather than competing for attention, the team successfully elevated the project.
