Cleaner Trapped for Three Days in Old Copenhagen Court Holding Cell
A cleaning worker employed by the firm Coor became trapped inside an old holding cell in the basement of a historic court building in Copenhagen after the heavy door swung shut behind her. Because cell doors cannot be opened from the inside and she lacked a mobile phone, she endured three harrowing days isolated in the mostly empty facility before being discovered. The ordeal finally ended on Saturday evening when her husband, returning from a trip, noticed her bicycle parked outside the deserted courthouse and alerted the police. Following the incident, the cleaning company and court administration implemented enhanced security protocols, including changing the locks so cells can no longer latch accidentally.
