White House blocks Microsoft from foreign worker hiring programme
The White House has barred Microsoft and seven other major technology firms from participating in a key permanent foreign worker visa programme. Vice President JD Vance accused the companies of visa fraud and replacing American employees with cheaper labor. Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling announced that the government will halt processing PERM applications for the affected companies. Microsoft defended its practices, stating that most visa filings are for existing employees paid standard market rates.
