Finland Halts Google Data Centre Construction Over Environmental Fears
Finnish authorities have ordered an immediate suspension of construction at two Google data centre sites in Muhos and Kajaani. The decision follows concerns regarding the clearing of over 300 hectares of forest without the required environmental impact assessments. Google has acknowledged that it fell short of its internal standards and has pledged to cooperate with the Finnish Supervisory Agency. The company maintains it acted in good faith, citing its broader €13bn investment plan for the region.
