Filmotor Picks Up Hazara Community Documentary Ahead of IDFA Debut
Global sales banner Filmotor has acquired worldwide rights for Khadim Dai’s debut documentary, “Hazara Town,” right before its scheduled competition screening at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. Shot over a span of six years, the movie documents the harrowing displacement and survival of the marginalized Hazara minority originating from Afghanistan and weathering severe adversity in Pakistan. Director Khadim Dai utilized his camera to record intimate domestic moments and the gradual scattering of his relatives across North America and Australia after enduring deadly targeted violence. The production serves as an archival testament to a community rarely highlighted on the silver screen, preserving their erased history and personal tragedies for future generations.
