Dating app Bumble acquired for $1.3bn by Ithaca Holdings

Dating app Bumble has been acquired by investment firm Ithaca Holdings for $1.3bn, following reports of takeover talks. The loss-making company, which recently abandoned its signature 'women-first' chat rule, will see new co-CEOs Ravi Gupta and John Hegeman take the helm. Founder Whitney Wolfe Herd stated she will remain actively involved with the business. The new owners plan to leverage artificial intelligence to renew and accelerate the platform, despite Bumble's recent financial struggles and a sharp decline from its 2021 peak valuation.
