Election Day Shopping Surge: Over 1.14 Billion NIS Spent in Israel
Data released by Sheba, Israel's national payment system manager, reveals a massive surge in consumer spending during Election Day. Between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, credit card purchases crossed the 1.141 billion shekel mark. This figure represents a dramatic 41.2 percent increase compared to the corresponding hours during the previous election held in November 2022. Citizens spent approximately 332 million shekels more this time around, turning a civic holiday into a major retail event.
