Severe Benzene Spike Recorded in Haifa Bay Following Plant Restart
An environmental crisis has emerged in Haifa Bay after a significant daily standard violation of the carcinogenic chemical benzene was detected. The spike occurred at the Kiryat Binyamin monitoring station just days after authorities permitted the Gadiv plant, part of the Bazan group, to resume maintenance operations under strict supervisory controls. In response to the hazardous emission levels, maintenance activities at the facility were halted immediately in accordance with administrative enforcement protocols. Monitoring data indicates that benzene concentrations have since dropped and returned to acceptable standard limits.
