India opposition leader Rahul Gandhi detained during Delhi protest
Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi was temporarily detained by Delhi police on Tuesday during a dramatic protest march demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Videos of Gandhi being pushed into a police bus quickly went viral across social media platforms. The protest stems from opposition allegations that the election commission manipulated voter rolls to favor Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governing Bharatiya Janata Party. Both the commission and the BJP have strongly rejected these accusations. Following their brief detention and subsequent release, Gandhi and other opposition lawmakers continued their demonstrations near the election commission headquarters, highlighting an escalating political standoff.
