Caroline Kepnes Sets Cast for Series Directorial Debut 'The Attentionist'

Caroline Kepnes, best known for penning the novel series 'You', is expanding her career into television directing with 'The Attentionist'. The digital-first project combines 1990s family comedy tropes with tense psychological horror. The narrative follows teenage sisters Maeve and Reg, played by Katherine Mallen Kupferer and Audrey Grace Marshall, who engage in a dangerous phone romance with a local boat club member. Dean Norris and Jordan Ladd round out the main cast as their unsuspecting parents.

Set in a stratified Cape Cod neighborhood, the plot spirals into dark territory when the phone conversations take a sinister turn, plunging the family into a monstrous secret. Kepnes serves as both writer and director, with production handled by Mark Roberts and Lorena David. The series is slated for release on YouTube, aiming to deliver a unique clash of genres.
