France Boosts Oscar Support Amid Declining Exports
France's National Film Board (CNC) has announced a new strategy to enhance the profile of French cinema in the Oscar race, doubling financial aid for campaigns. The move comes as industry leaders sound the alarm over declining exports and growing competition in the global streaming landscape. The initiative includes the appointment of Sébastien Cauchon as a dedicated Academy Awards liaison to spearhead campaigns, starting with the film "Minotaur." The strategy aims to expand French recognition beyond the international feature category into acting, directing, and technical fields.
