Director Cristian Mungiu Discusses His New Film Fjord
Renowned director Cristian Mungiu discusses his sixth feature film, Fjord, which explores the complex cultural and religious clashes faced by an immigrant family in rural Norway. The film stars Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan as devout Romanian parents whose traditional views on discipline collide with modern secular expectations in Norway. In a recent interview, Mungiu shares how his background in journalism, his upbringing under Ceaușescu, and a lifelong habit of reading news shape his cinematic explorations of tolerance.
