Vegan Brownies
These decadent, fudgy vegan brownies are so rich and chocolatey that no one will guess they are entirely plant-based.
Ingredients
- •1 cup all-purpose flour (125g)
- •1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
- •1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50g)
- •1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- •1/4 teaspoon salt
- •1/2 cup neutral oil like canola or melted coconut oil (120ml)
- •1/2 cup warm water (120ml)
- •1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- •1/2 cup vegan dark chocolate chips (85g)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Add the oil, warm water, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, mixing with a spatula until just combined and smooth.
- 4
Fold in the vegan chocolate chips gently.
- 5
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly to the corners.
- 6
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
- 7
Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares to ensure they set properly.
💡 Chef tips
- For an extra fudgy texture, pull the brownies out at 25 minutes; they will continue to set as they cool.
- Store these in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze them for up to 2 months.
- If you want a nutty crunch, feel free to fold in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans along with the chocolate chips.
✅ How it should turn out
The finished brownies should have a shiny, crackly top with an incredibly dense, moist, and fudgy interior that tastes deeply of dark chocolate.
