Avocado Chocolate Mousse
A rich, velvety, and surprisingly healthy chocolate dessert that comes together in minutes using ripe avocados.
Ingredients
- •2 large ripe Hass avocados, pitted and peeled
- •1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50g)
- •1/2 cup pure maple syrup (120ml)
- •1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk or any plant milk (80ml)
- •1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- •1/4 teaspoon salt
- •2 ounces dairy-free dark chocolate, melted (60g)
- •Fresh berries and mint leaves for serving
Instructions
- 1
Place the pitted and peeled avocados, cocoa powder, maple syrup, plant milk, vanilla extract, and salt into a high-powered food processor or blender.
- 2
Process the mixture on high speed, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until completely smooth and creamy.
- 3
Pour in the melted dark chocolate and blend again for another 30 to 45 seconds until fully incorporated and glossy.
- 4
Spoon the mousse evenly into four small serving glasses or ramekins.
- 5
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let the mousse firm up and the flavors meld.
- 6
Garnish with fresh berries and mint leaves just before serving.
💡 Chef tips
- Make sure your avocados are fully ripe and soft to prevent any lumps and ensure a silky texture.
- Store the mousse covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- You can substitute honey for maple syrup if you prefer, and any dairy-free milk of your choice.
✅ How it should turn out
The finished mousse should be ultra-smooth, deeply chocolaty, and rich, with no detectable taste of avocado.
